What modules are available in the Environmental Management (EM) programme?

For the Postgraduate Certificate, there are two compulsory modules:

For the Postgraduate Diploma you will need to complete the Certificate and study:

A choice of two other core modules (you have to take at least one of these two but can take both)

and a choice of further optional modules:

All of the modules in the EM Programme are worth 30 credits. For the Postgraduate Certificate you need modules worth 60 credits. For the Postgraduate Diploma you need modules worth 120 credits.

And, to proceed to the MSc qualification you need a further 60 credits by taking either:

Yes - but you are recommended to study the two Certificate modules before starting the Diploma.  The Project is to be taken as the final module of your MSc.

What will the module materials consist of?

All modules have a website with links to a range of module and university resources. Some modules are delivered completely on-line whilst other modules use a combination of high quality study books supported by readings, guides and on-line resources .You will be expected to submit your written assignments using the eTMA system (electronic tutor-marked assignments). Modules either have a project submission or a written examination (usually 3 hours) at the end of the module. 

Who are the tutors?

You will be allocated to a tutor (Associate Lecturer). The tutors come from a range of relevant backgrounds including further and higher education, consultancy, local government and business.

What tutor support will I receive?

Support for the EM modules will take place in the following way:

  • Email or telephone for regular direct communication with tutors.
  • eTMAs (electronic assignments). Your tutor will mark your TMA and provide feedback on your work.
  • On-line communications by the use of forums and tutorials
